Young Christchurch singer Hayley Westenra tonight will fulfil a childhood dream when she appears with Italian star Andrea Bocelli at the Westpac Centre.

Seventeen-year-old Westenra will sing a duet with her longtime hero in front of her hometown crowd.

"It's a kind of dream come true. His album was like, the very first album I ever bought," Westenra said when she arrived at Christchurch International Airport yesterday.

Last night tickets were still available for the show, though they were premium tickets priced at $175, $275 and $375.

Westenra travelled straight to Christchurch after performing at a pre-recorded Christmas concert at London's Royal Albert Hall.

On arrival in Christchurch, she admitted she was ready to go to bed.

Unfortunately for Westenra's parents, Gerald and Jill, the young singer will leave again tomorrow to perform with Bocelli in Australia.
