Hayley Westenra has just been named as one of ten outstanding
young persons of the world by the Junior Chambers International.
The organisation recognises young people's achievements throughout
the world.
The Christchurch singer was chosen from 150 nominees from 42
different countries - in November she will head to Seoul to receive her award.
Westenra rose to international stardom with the launch of the
record Pure when she was just 15.
Since then she has released a second album Odyssey and has
sung with some of the world's greats like Andrea Bocelli and Jose Carreras.
She has performed for the Queen, the British prime minister
