The
concert will take place on Saturday 16 March
in the development known as Lakeside Estates,
the property of composer and performer Kevin
Carlin. The Quest is an epic musical journey
inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien performed
by The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Christchurch
Symphony. Composed and produced by Christchurch
resident, Carlin.
Lakeside
Estates sits directly beneath the Remarkables
and is positioned between the foot of the Remarkables
and Lake Wakatipu. From the concert site the
audience will see both the Lake and the Remarkables
towering above. The site slopes gradually from
the Remarkables towards the Lake providing
a natural ampitheatre.
The
concert will star Hayley Westenra, Carlin
and Suzanne Prentice with the Christchurch
Symphony. Master of ceremonies for the concert
will be actor and comedian, Mark Hadlow. Hayley
Westenra, the 14-year-old New Zealand singing
sensation, will sing personal favourites from
her two albums and will perform some music
with Carlin as well.
Plunket
and children with the rare genetic disorder
Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) will benefit from
the open-air concert. All proceeds after costs
will go to the two charities.
The
concert will be an entertaining event for families
and people of all ages. The scenic views, will
provide visual impact and the wonderful line-up
of singers and musicians performing old favourites
plus new and original compositions will ensure
all musical tastes are met.

The
Quest to Queenstown
charity
concert went off with a BANG! Literally.
Soul
Stirring
Breathtaking
& Emotional
Were words the public used to describe both the
music and setting of the Quest Charity Concert,
not to mention the experience enhancing pyrotechnics.
Nation
treasure Haley Westenra was charming,
Carlin and the Christchurch Symphony moved
the crowd to tears with their music performed
to images of September 11 and Suzanne Prentice
was right at home with the locals that love
her.
Thousands
enjoyed the food, wine and the beautiful surroundings
of Lakeside Estates, home to some of New Zealand's
rich and famous. Homeowners like Jeff Wilson
were happy to cooperate, with the funds going
to two such worthy causes. EB Sufferer Humphrey
Hanley thanked composer/performer/executive
producer Kevin Carlin for his generosity and
said that the donations raised would "help
Kiwi children with EB get on with living life."
The
president of the Royal New Zealand Plunket
Society, Pam Murray, explained that the money
would go to "ensuring that all New Zealand
children were among the healthiest in the world."
Every
review and article has been complimentary,
enthusiastic and positive and reports have
stated it was an event for all tastes and ages.
TV3 News covered the event and praised the
professionalism and quality of the production.
Organisers
said that coordinating the 200 people it took
to stage the concert, had been very hard work
but seeing the public enjoy the music had made
it all worthwhile.

Quest concert, it could be closer than you
think. If you missed the Quest, do not miss
Carlin's Multi Media extravaganza in concert
with Art Garfunkel - Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch
in June.
