"Everybody,
especially the sponsors Mercury Television and Southland Building
Society (SBS), was pleased with how the concert turned out, and nobody
could stop raving about Hayley's fantastic voice."
A
two hour concert, to be held at Invercargill, will be a rare chance
to see Hayley perform live in New Zealand given the demand of her
engagements offshore.
Hayley
and family TV SPECIAL Sunday 22nd NZTV1, 7.30pm
7:30
pm - Sunday Policewoman Jeanette Parks describes her chilling encounter
with Daniel Luff. In an exclusive interview Parks tells Janet McIntyre
how she watched Luff gun down her colleague Duncan Taylor and how
Luff then turned the gun on her; New Zealand's singing sensation
Hayley Westenra wows them at New York's Carnegie Hall; and five
years as a prisoner of war - a Kiwis' horrific tale of WW II terror.

Westenra visited Sydney, Australia
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carmina Burana - 7:30pm
Christchurch Town Hall - Cancelled -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hayley sang
the New Zealand national anthem at the
Bledisloe Cup rugby match, held in
Sydney on August 3.
Initially, she was set to perform as
soprano in Carl Orff's Carmina
Burana that same day, but, in consultation
with all
parties concerned, she has decided
to opt for the extra exposure abroad.

Hayley appeared windswept, but totally composed. A lovely performance,
not to be missed.
The
stadium was possibly the windiest place in Sydney that day, gusts
and swirls abounded, so much so that the first two conversions -
by the teams' top goal shooters - were missed by a mile. I'm still
unsure if the shivering of the players was evidence of pre-match
nerves or the apparently wintry conditions!

Posh Spice
Victoria Beckham wants Christchurch singer Hayley Westenra to perform
at her birthday bash next month, but Westenra will not be able to
attend as the date clashes with the New Zealand Music Awards on May
10. The 15-year-old is at present on a sold-out tour of Britain with
tenor Russell Watson.
These
three UK dates cannot be confirmed. We have every reason,
however, to be confident she will appear. UK venues seldom
disclose "support acts" until the actual day of
performance. Wembley, for instance, could not (or would not)
confirm even one hour before curtain-up - hence we missed
it!
